Vietnam's
recent war past is very obvious everywhere and most
recent war records after the Second World War include
wars against France, Japan, USA, China, Cambodia and
Laos. Vietnam was probably the most fought nation
of the second half of the 20th century, which first
independance victory in Dien Bien Phu against the
french army (1954) was also followed shortly by the
independance of most colonialised nations in Asia
and Africa.
Ho
Chi Minh ("uncle Ho"), the early (communist)
leader of the Viet Minh party fought for both the
independance and the reunification of northern and
southern Vietnam.
Currently,
the Communist Party propaganda is still strong in
Vietnam (it looks today like it was in China 15-20
years ago) and tends togradually switch to a certain
form of Nationalism (like it happened too in mainland
China, following the trends of opening and economic
reforms).
The
following photos display some examples of banners
photographied in May 2004 in the streets of Ho Chi
Minh City, Hoi An, Hue and Danang cities.
