Yunnan Povince is located in the South West of China, bordering Tibet, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.

This province hosts also a large part of the chinese minorities and ethnic groups who have distincts outlook, lifestyles, traditions and social customs than the remaining 90% of Chinese "Hans" population.

The following pictures are taken in the Kunming and Lijiang areas.

Early in the morning in Lu Gu Hu lake, 200 kms north of Lijiang city.

The famous "Leaping tiger gorges", 2-3 hours drive from Lijiang city.One of the deepest gorges in the world, it drops almost 400 meters from the mountaintops to the water's surface, although it is only 7 Kilometers in length

 

 

 

walking along the gorge, bordering the Yangzi river.

 

 

 

 

Path all along is quite dangerous (stone falls regularly...) and sometimes really narrow.

 

 

 

 

 

A short walk from road's end along the lower trail provides stunning views of the gorge.

 

 

an hour drive back from the Tiger Leaping gorge, the quieter and famous Yangzi River, known as "Jinsha" river at this point.
