The "Stone forest", located 80 kms off Kunming city brings an amazing landscape of columns stones which look like planted in the ground... a bit of history hereunder :

2.5 hundrer million years ago, because of earth crust uplift, hundred meters thick limestone emerged from seawater and became land. Compressed by force, the rock cracked and fissures in the rocks appeared and ilolated stone columns and pillars took shape... with the work of Time & erosion.
